January 2001: Women's Cosmetics

How to Re-Vamp
Your Make-Up
for Evening

Right:
‘Morning’

Below:
‘Evening’

Evening lends itself to more dramatic make-up. Brows can be more defined, eye colour more expressive and lip colour can be stronger. Evening allows you to experiment and have fun!

Foundation can be heavier and more matt. Use either powder foundation applied with a wet sponge, or crème foundation. Set with loose powder.

Brows can be one-half to one shade darker than they are naturally. Pencil-in a heavier arched shape. Keep the brow symmetrical and follow the natural shape.

Apply a darker than usual shade of eye shadow in a line in the crease of the eye. This will make the eyelid look larger.

Blend a shiny shade of eye shadow over the brow-bone. This will make the structure of the brow-bone stronger. A dab of the shiny shadow can also be put in the center of the eyelid.

Apply eye-liner to upper lashes. Start at the inner corner of the eye with a thin line, creating a thicker line along the iris. Extend the line diagonally upward past outer corner of the eye.

Line lower lashes with a subtly-coloured eye-pencil and blend.

Apply two coats of mascara to upper and lower lashes - coloured can be fun!

Apply a medium to dark shade of powder blush under the cheekbone. Apply a lighter shade over the cheekbone and onto the ball of the cheek. Blend up and out towards hairline.

Use a lipcolour which is the strongest for your Colour Direction - or, if you want to really turn heads, choose a colour from your opposite Colour Direction.

Add a dab of lip gloss to the centre of the bottom lip for a luscious look!
